Shadow

Shadow

Under shimmery sun

all come out to play.

Shadow is their companion,

dark, cool trickster.

Shadow hands sign silent words,

Shadow feet trip shoe and slipper.

Shadow eyes follow ones blue, green and grey.

Shall we listen to Shadow today?

What will Shadow tell us today?

Only Sun and God can discern,

tricky shadow wants tragedy.

Silent, sneaking, sordid.

So Sun sinks,

so Shadow sleeps.

Tomorrow will slip around soon.

Under Sun Shadow sits,

this time he will not trifle.

children come singing

upon warm winds.

One by one

Shadow falls over little face.

One by one

Shadow consumes.

Under Sun Shadow changes

solid into silhouette,

the ultimate treachery.

Silent screams,

Tiny terrors.

Only Sun and God to see.
